Folk singer Joan Baez is a living legend, admired by Christian heroes of the faith like Martin Luther King Jr, Thomas Merton, Cesar Chavez, and Dorothy Day. Her passion for peacemaking and nonviolence is reflected in her art. Her music, in fact, illustrates examples of the struggle to live as Christ-like witnesses in an often violent world. It also provides connecting points to other media that can deepen learning Christian ethics from history. This session will highlight some examples of Baez's music as relevant to her own Mexican American heritage and provide ways to discuss faith integration.
